Salary:

$400,000 to $600,000 per year

Work Schedule:

  • Full-time position, working approximately 40 hours per week.
  • Typical clinic hours are Monday to Friday from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
  • Surgical procedures are typically scheduled on designated days during the week, allowing for a balanced work schedule.
  • On-call responsibilities may be required on a rotational basis to provide 24/7 coverage for emergencies and post-operative care.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform a variety of weight loss surgical procedures, including gastric bypass, gastric sleeve, and laparoscopic banding, with a focus on patient safety and optimal outcomes.
  • Conduct comprehensive patient evaluations to determine surgical candidacy, considering medical history, lifestyle factors, and patient goals.
  • Develop individualized treatment plans, incorporating surgical interventions, dietary counseling, and post-operative care to support long-term weight loss success.
  • Collaborate closely with a multidisciplinary team of dietitians, psychologists, and support staff to provide comprehensive care throughout the patient's weight loss journey.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed electronic medical records, documenting surgical procedures, progress notes, and follow-up care.
  • Stay current with the latest advancements and research in bariatric surgery through ongoing professional development and participation in conferences and workshops.
  • Educate patients on the benefits and risks of weight loss surgery, providing them with the information they need to make informed decisions about their health.
  • Foster a supportive and compassionate environment for patients, addressing their concerns, answering questions, and offering guidance throughout their weight loss journey.
  • Adhere to ethical and legal standards, ensuring patient confidentiality and compliance with regulatory requirements.

Qualifications:

  • Doctor’s degree (MD or DO) from an accredited medical school.
  • Completion of an accredited residency program in General Surgery.
  • Fellowship training or specialized experience in Bariatric Surgery.
  • Board certification or eligibility for certification by the American Board of Surgery.
  • Valid state medical license to practice as a Bariatric Surgeon.
  • Proficiency in performing a variety of weight loss surgical procedures with excellent surgical skills.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to effectively educate and empathetically interact with patients and their families.
