Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) – Orthopedic Outpatient

Position: Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA)

Location: Fort Pierce, Florida

Employment Type: Full-Time / Part-Time

Schedule: Monday to Friday, 9 AM – 5 PM

Compensation: $55,000 to $60,000 + benefits

Position Overview:

We are seeking a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) to join our outpatient rehabilitation team. Under the supervision of a licensed Occupational Therapist (OT), the COTA will assist with implementing treatment plans designed to improve patients’ functional abilities and promote independence in daily activities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Carry out individualized treatment plans created by the Occupational Therapist, focusing on improving mobility, coordination, and daily living skills.
  • Assist patients with therapeutic exercises, functional activities, and adaptive techniques to enhance independence.
  • Utilize assistive devices and adaptive equipment to support patient rehabilitation.
  • Monitor and document patients’ progress and responses to therapy.
  • Collaborate with the OT and interdisciplinary team to modify treatment plans as needed.
  • Educate patients and families on home exercise programs and self-care strategies.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation in compliance with clinic policies and regulatory standards.

Requirements:

  • Education: Associate degree from an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant program.
  • Licensure: Active and valid COTA license in Florida.
  • Experience: Previous experience in an orthopedic outpatient or rehab setting is preferred but not required.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • Patient-focused, compassionate, and detail-oriented.
