Job Title: Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant (COTA) – Outpatient Setting (Texas)
Salary Range: $60,000 – $65,000 per year
Location: Fort Worth, Texas
Job Type: Full-Time
Schedule: Monday to Friday, 9 AM – 5 PM

As a Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant, you will assist in providing therapeutic interventions to patients who have experienced physical, cognitive, or emotional challenges. Under the supervision of an Occupational Therapist, you’ll help implement treatment plans, assist patients with exercises, activities, and techniques to enhance their functional abilities, and track progress over time. Your hands-on care will empower patients to achieve their therapy goals and lead more independent, fulfilling lives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Implement individualized treatment plans developed by the Occupational Therapist, including therapeutic exercises, activities of daily living (ADLs), and assistive devices.
- Work one-on-one with patients to assist them during therapy sessions, ensuring they perform exercises and functional tasks safely and correctly.
- Observe and document patient progress, noting any changes in the patient’s abilities or symptoms. Communicate progress with the Occupational Therapist for potential adjustments in treatment.
- Educate patients and their families about exercises, safety techniques, and strategies to support recovery both in the clinic and at home.
- Help patients practice activities such as grooming, dressing, and other activities of daily living that foster independence.
- Work closely with Occupational Therapists, Physical Therapists, and other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive patient care.
- Accurately document patient progress, therapy interventions, and treatment outcomes in compliance with regulatory standards.
- Set up and monitor therapy equipment, ensuring it is used correctly and safely during patient sessions.
Qualifications:
- Associate’s degree in Occupational Therapy Assisting from an accredited program.
- Current, valid certification from the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT) and an active COTA license in the state of Texas.
- At least 1 year of experience as a COTA, preferably in an outpatient setting, though new graduates with relevant clinical experience will be considered.
- Strong interpersonal skills, the ability to follow detailed treatment plans, and excellent communication skills.
