Job Title: Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) – Outpatient Setting

Salary Range: $60,000 – $75,000 per year

Location: . St. Joseph, Missouri

Job Type: Full-Time

Schedule: Monday to Friday, 9 AM – 5 PM

As a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA), you will work under the supervision of an Occupational Therapist to provide direct therapy services to patients. Your role will involve implementing individualized treatment plans, assisting patients with exercises and activities to improve their daily living skills, and ensuring they make measurable progress in their rehabilitation journey. This position is perfect for someone with a passion for helping others regain independence and reach their full potential.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in implementing individualized treatment plans designed by the Occupational Therapist (OT).
  • Provide direct patient care, including helping patients practice and improve activities of daily living (ADLs) such as dressing, grooming, cooking, and more.
  • Assist patients with therapeutic exercises, mobility tasks, and cognitive training exercises.
  • Monitor patient progress and provide feedback to the supervising OT.
  • Educate patients and their families on therapeutic activities and home exercise programs to support ongoing recovery.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records, documenting treatment plans, progress, and any changes.
  • Collaborate with the Occupational Therapist and other healthcare team members to ensure comprehensive and effective patient care.

Qualifications:

  • Associate's degree in Occupational Therapy Assisting from an accredited program.
  • Current Missouri state licensure as a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA).
  • Certification from the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT).
  • Prior experience in an outpatient setting is a plus but not required.
  • Strong knowledge of occupational therapy practices, techniques, and modalities.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work well within a team.
  • Compassionate and patient-centered approach to care.
  • Ability to motivate and engage patients in their rehabilitation process.
