Salary Range: $60,000 – $75,000 per year

Location: White Plains, New York

Job Type: Full-Time

Schedule: Monday to Friday, 9 AM – 5 PM

Our outpatient orthopedic practice and skilled nursing facility are seeking a COTA to work with a diverse population, including elderly patients in skilled nursing care and individuals recovering from orthopedic injuries or surgeries. In this role, you’ll have the opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of individuals working to regain functional independence.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Implement treatment plans under the supervision of an Occupational Therapist, focusing on improving patients’ functional abilities and helping them achieve daily living goals.
  • Assist patients with therapeutic activities that improve strength, mobility, and fine motor skills, including activities of daily living (ADLs), adaptive equipment training, and cognitive exercises.
  • Monitor patient progress and provide feedback to the supervising Occupational Therapist to adjust treatment plans as necessary.
  • Educate patients and their families on strategies for improving functional independence, including home modifications, self-care techniques, and safety measures.
  • Document patient progress and treatment outcomes accurately and in compliance with facility and regulatory standards.
  • Foster a positive, encouraging environment that supports patients through their recovery process and motivates them to continue their therapy goals.

Qualifications:

  • Licensed Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) in the state of New York.
  • Experience or interest in working with geriatric patients and individuals recovering from orthopedic injuries or surgeries.
  • Strong understanding of functional independence, activities of daily living (ADLs), and adaptive techniques.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to build rapport with patients and their families.
  • Ability to work independently while being an integral part of a collaborative healthcare team.
  • Passion for helping individuals improve their quality of life through rehabilitation.
