We provide clinical support functions to dentists by: cleaning, sterilizing and arranging instruments, equipment and rooms; supporting the production of radiographs; maintaining necessary stocks and supplies; moving and monitoring patients; and generally opening and closing the clinic.


Responsibilities:

  • Clean, sterilize, and arrange dental instruments, equipment, and treatment rooms to maintain a safe and efficient working environment for dental procedures.
  • Assist dentists during dental procedures by passing instruments, providing suction, and managing patient comfort.
  • Support the production of radiographs (X-rays) and maintain accurate patient records.
  • Monitor and assist with patient movement and positioning during dental procedures.
  • Prepare and maintain necessary stocks and supplies for dental treatments.
  • Open and close the dental clinic, ensuring proper setup and shutdown procedures.
  • Adhere to infection control protocols and procedures to maintain a hygienic and sterile environment.
  • Provide patient education on oral hygiene and post-treatment care instructions.
  • Communicate effectively with patients and dental team members, ensuring clear and accurate information exchange.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of dental software and electronic health records (EHR) systems for efficient patient management.
  • Recognize and respond appropriately to emergency situations during dental procedures.
  • Perform other dental assisting duties as directed by the dental team.

Qualifications:

  • Must have current Dental Assistant registration with the State Board of Dental Examiners.
  • Must have a current Heartsaver CPR course completion card within 90 days of hire and/or placement in job from one of the following:
  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED); completion of a dental assistant training program is preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of dental terminology, procedures, and instruments.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively interact with patients and dental team members.
  • Attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to multitask and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Familiarity with dental software and electronic health records (EHR) systems is a plus.
  • Knowledge of infection control protocols and procedures.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively with patients, hospital staff and the general public.
  • Must be able to demonstrate a working knowledge of dental assisting techniques and equipment.
  • Must be able to demonstrate a working knowledge of oral surgery instruments and reconstructive surgery on patients.
  • Must be able to maintain records of all necessary data. - Must be able to demonstrate knowledge and skill in meeting age related and handicapped patients' needs.
  • Must be able to demonstrate skill in taking radiographs, blood pressure, D-sticks, cleaning and sterilizing equipment, and in recognizing the names of instruments and the order in which they are used.


Salary:


$40,000 to $60,000 per year + bonus
