You will provide comprehensive general dental care to a wide variety of patients in accordance with the American Dental Association standard. Diagnosing and treating commonly encountered dental diseases or dental health problems requiring standard corrective, restorative, or preventive measures in an efficient and cost-effective manner.

Schedule:

8am-5:00pm Monday through Friday, On-Call Saturdays

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

  • Reviews patients’ medical charts for evidence of disease or abnormalities that could be adversely affected by dental treatments and takes necessary precautions to ensure safe and effective care.
  • Performs oral examination including inspection of hard and soft tissues of the oral cavity and ensures that results of examination are properly recorded in the electronic health record (EHR) and/or patient’s chart.
  • Requests indicated dental radiographs and perform radiographic interpretation.
  • Develops patients’ treatment plans and ensures proper referral of patients for necessary medical evaluation or specialty care beyond the scope of general dental practice. Ensures that patients understand proposed treatment plans.
  • Performs patient management for simple and complex cases. Performs complex restorative and preventive procedures and routine care in any or all of the following areas: oral surgery, periodontics, endodontics, pedodontics and prosthodontics.
  • Determines needs for space, equipment, supplies and materials needed for dental health care delivery.
  • Assists and recommends with the process of developing and implementing necessary procedures for dental health care delivery.
  • Assists the Dental Department Director with ensuring that all regulatory and requirement issues are current and processed for accreditation. Assesses all matters of clinical compliance and provides timely recommendations for corrective action and quality improvement.
  • Addresses dental clinic issues with regard to patient satisfaction and program development for dental clinical input.
  • Makes decisions on dental health issues within the department.
  • Maintaining appropriate levels of supplies by requesting those needed in a timely fashion and practices economic use of supplies.
  • Acts as a consultant and advisor to medical personnel within the NATIVE HEALTH Primary Medicine Clinic on oral health matters.
  • May serve on NATIVE HEALTH teams, including but not limited to, the Improving Patient Care (IPC), Patient-Centered Medical Home (PCMH) and the Quality Improvement committees.
  • Provides comprehensive dental services in an efficient and effective manner.
  • Attends regular and mandatory in-services, conferences, and training seminars and participates in regular and mandatory division staff meetings.
  • Coordinates development of departmental policies and procedures as needed.
  • Performs other work related duties as assigned.
  • Must be able to provide dental care at any of Native Health dental clinics.


QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE/REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must have and maintain a current State Dental License, current registration, and current DEA Number Certification.
  • Must be able to cope with problems and make judgments and evaluations of situations and types of care needed and refer cases of a highly complicated nature to specialists.
  • Must also possess mature judgment for evaluating and exercising his/her responsibilities.
  • Must have a valid and unrestricted driver’s license with no DUI/DWI or reckless driving convictions in the last five years. No more than two at-fault accidents in the last three years. Must maintain a valid driver license during employment. Must be insurable by NATIVE HEALTH liability auto policy.
  • Must pass a criminal background check with a Class I Fingerprint Clearance Card within the initial ninety (90) calendar days of employment.
  • Must submit to a random testing during the course of employment.
  • Must have an updated Immunization (IZ) Record, including COVID vaccination record.
  • Must have a current Tuberculosis (TB) skin test report upon employment and provide an update annually.
  • Must obtain a CPR Card within ninety (90) calendar days of employment and maintain a valid CPR card during employment.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Ability to deliver high quality dental care in a clinical setting.
  • Ability to deliver high quality general dental care to diverse patient population according to the following five life cycles: (a) prenatal, (b) pediatric, (c) adolescent (d) adult, and (e) geriatric.
  • Ability to foster the dentist-patient relationships and motivate patient cooperation toward the delivery of dental care.
  • Ability and evidence of competence in general office procedures.
  • Ability to use EHR system.
  • Ability to employ the problem-oriented method of recording patient treatment in the dental chart.
