Job Title: Mental Health Specialist (Counselor)

Employment Type: Full-time/Part-time, Remote

The primary responsibility of the Mental Health Specialist is to provide personalized counseling and life skills training to adults aged 18 or over who have difficulty maintaining their independence due to mental illness. The services will focus on developing daily living skills, accessing community resources, improving health and safety, managing finances, and social support. The specialist will provide individualized, client-centered, and facilitated mental health support services.

Job Overview:

  • Provide clinical services primarily through video chat to clients.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of individual treatment plans based on person-centered, recovery-based approaches.
  • Conduct an ongoing assessment of treatment needs.
  • Monitor and implement the individual service plan
  • Help clients develop coping, problem-solving, and communication skills
  • Educate clients on existing community services and connect them to those services.

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Can deliver various skill-building activities, enhance caregiver roles, assist clients in developing daily and community living skills, and develop leisure time interests/activities.
  • Have knowledge, skills, and abilities for symptom monitoring and management, behavior, and anger management skills.
  • Maintain client confidentiality, provide closure and aftercare planning for each client, and have a firm understanding of family developmental issues.

Academic/Work Experience:

To qualify as a Mental Health Specialist, the candidate must:

  • Hold a Master's degree in Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, Mental Health Counseling, or Psychology.
  • Have a current state license from the state board and be able to practice independently without supervision.
  • Have experience providing direct clinical services.
  • Possess excellent interpersonal skills
  • Have a sympathetic nature
  • Computer literacy
  • A good Wi-Fi connection
