Full- time Medical Technologist (MT) in Syracuse, NY for Emblem Diagnostic Services
The Role of the Medical Technologist is to perform general laboratory high complexity testing. Assist in quality control management, inventory management, PT handling, specimen processing, and general specimen troubleshooting. Must be able to run PCR testing and possess High complexity testing with Quant Studio 1K Kingfisher for Respiratory and UTI testing.
Work Schedule:
Full Time Position
16-40 hours per week
with occasional on-call responsibilities shared among the team.
Salary:
$70k to $100k a year
Job Responsibilities:
- Determines normal and abnormal components of body fluids by conducting chemical analyses of blood, urine, spinal fluids, and gastric juices.
- Analyzes blood cells by counting and identifying cells, using microscopic techniques and procedures.
- Prepares blood, plasma, and platelets for transfusions by conducting blood group, type, and compatibility tests.
- Ensures operation of analyzers, spectrophotometers, colorimeters, flame photometers, and other laboratory equipment.
- Maintains laboratory supplies inventory by checking stock to determine inventory level.
- Conserves laboratory resources by using equipment and supplies as needed to accomplish job results.
- Provides medical technology information by answering questions and requests.
- Prepares reports of technological findings by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information.
- Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops.
- Maintains a safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
Qualifications:
State licensure or eligible as a Medical Technologist under the provisions of Chapter 483
Requires licensure in the specialties of Microbiology, Serology/Immunology, Immunohematology, Clinical Chemistry, and/or Hematology based on areas where employed
Medical Technologist with a minimum of 1 year of current experience
