Full- time Medical Technologist in Albany, NY for Digimed Diagnostic Center

The medical technologist's job is to do high-complexity general laboratory testing. Help with inventory control, PT handling, specimen processing, and general specimen troubleshooting in addition to quality control management. For UTI and respiratory testing, it is necessary to have High complexity testing capabilities with Quant Studio 1K Kingfisher and the ability to do PCR tests.

Work Schedule:

  • Full Time Position
  • 16-40 hours per week
  • with occasional on-call responsibilities shared among the team.

Salary:

$70k to $100k a year

Job Responsibilities:

  • Determines normal and abnormal components of body fluids by conducting chemical analyses of blood, urine, spinal fluids, and gastric juices.
  • Analyzes blood cells by counting and identifying cells, using microscopic techniques and procedures.
  • Prepares blood, plasma, and platelets for transfusions by conducting blood group, type, and compatibility tests.
  • Ensures operation of analyzers, spectrophotometers, colorimeters, flame photometers, and other laboratory equipment.
  • Maintains laboratory supplies inventory by checking stock to determine inventory level.
  • Conserves laboratory resources by using equipment and supplies as needed to accomplish job results.
  • Provides medical technology information by answering questions and requests.
  • Prepares reports of technological findings by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information.
  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops.
  • Maintains a safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.

Qualifications:

  • Master’s Degree in Medical Technology
  • State licensure or eligible as a Medical Technologist
  • Requires licensure in the specialties of Microbiology, Serology/Immunology, Immunohematology, Clinical Chemistry, and/or Hematology based on areas where employed
  • Medical Technologist with a minimum of 1 year of current experience
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
