Job Highlights:

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct thorough assessments of patients' mental health, including emotional, psychological, and behavioral aspects related to weight management, obesity, and binge eating.
  • Utilize standardized assessment tools to evaluate patients' mental health conditions and determine appropriate treatment plans.
  • Provide individual counseling sessions to patients dealing with obesity and/or binge eating, addressing their emotional challenges, behavioral patterns, and psychological factors impacting their weight management journey.
  • Develop personalized treatment plans tailored to each patient's needs, goals, and preferences.
  • Educate patients on the psychological aspects of weight management, including self-esteem, body image, stress management, and coping strategies.
  • Collaborate with patients to enhance their understanding of the emotional triggers behind overeating or unhealthy eating habits.
  • Implement evidence-based therapeutic interventions, such as cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), motivational interviewing, and mindfulness techniques, to support patients in making sustainable behavior changes.
  • Lead or co-lead group therapy sessions focused on weight management, facilitating discussions, and fostering a supportive environment for patients to share experiences and learn from one another.
  • Collaborate with physicians, dietitians, physical therapists, and other members of the healthcare team to provide holistic care for patients, addressing both physical and mental health aspects.
  • Regularly assess and document patients' progress towards their mental health and weight management goals.
  • Modify treatment plans as necessary based on patients' responses and evolving needs.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed electronic medical records (EMR) using EPIC software, documenting counseling sessions, treatment plans, progress notes, and any relevant communication.
  • Stay updated on the latest research, trends, and best practices in mental health counseling and weight management.
  • Attend relevant workshops, conferences, and training opportunities to enhance your skills.
  • Participate in teaching opportunities, sharing your expertise with colleagues, trainees, or students if interested.
  • Uphold the highest ethical standards in patient care, confidentiality, and professional conduct.
  • Contribution to Team Environment:
  • Collaborate with fellow team members, contributing to a dynamic and supportive work environment.
  • Participate in team meetings and case conferences to discuss patient progress and interdisciplinary care plans.

Salary:

$70,000-100,000 per year

Qualifications:

  • Must hold a master's degree in mental health counseling or a related field
  • Must hold an unrestricted LCMHC license to practice in the State
  • Must have excellent written and oral communication skills
  • The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 15 lbs
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus
