The Licensed Mental Health Counselor provides in-depth behavioral health assessment and counseling information and services to individuals and families with the goal to promote recovery and overall wellbeing. The incumbent assesses and/or identifies client and family needs; plans, coordinates, provides and evaluates necessary services and treatments; and assists and counsels individuals and families by delineating alternatives, helping to articulate goals, providing needed information and treatment services, and conducting individual, family and group therapy. Primary Job Functions

1. Provide in-depth behavioral health assessment, counseling information and services, and therapy to individuals and families with the goal to promote recovery and overall wellbeing in an office/facility, client home or school community setting.

Clinical Administration:

  • Develop and maintain clinical records and program documentation according to contract and CHS standards (assessments, treatment plans, progress notes, termination summaries, etc.).
  • Generate and maintain necessary reports and paperwork in a timely manner (e.g., Quality Assurance and program reports).
  • Participate in treatment and/or multidisciplinary teams, including TBOS, Outpatient or BHOS (residential setting only) and/or treatment team meetings, as required by the program.
  • Provide crisis-counseling services to families, as needed.
  • Make collateral contacts to assess client progress and functioning, as needed.
  • Provide on-call support as required or scheduled.

Clinical Services:

  • Provide in-depth clinical assessment, diagnosis of clinical conditions, treatment plans and interventions, including Medicaid Brief Behavioral Status Examinations, TBOS, Outpatient or BHOS services.
  • Complete assessments required to be conducted by a licensed individual for CHS Behavioral Health programs statewide.
  • Deliver evidence-based treatment interventions (e.g., Trauma-Focused Care, Infant Mental Health).
  • Oversee the behavioral program or treatment interventions associated with the client’s treatment plan.
  • Complete billable units; enter applicable data into the Client Information System (CIS) and other systems in a timely manner as required by the program and/or contract requirements.
  • Facilitate psycho-educational classes and/or groups such as parenting skills, independent living skills, anger management, behavior management, substance abuse, MAPP/Pride training, etc., as needed.
  • Provide case management services including information, plan referral and linkages, as needed.
  • Coordinate services with other professionals/para-professionals; liaise with other social service agencies and organizations, as needed.
  • Participate in the peer review process to oversee that services provided comply with contract, Medicaid and licensing requirements, COA, and internal quality assurance standards, as needed.
  • Coordinate and supervise therapeutic family visitation, as needed.
  • Train direct care team members regarding components of the individualized treatment plan, as needed.
  • Review and monitor billing for clinical services, as needed.
  • Meet established program productivity goals while upholding the CHS standard of care.

2. Contribute to a positive, engaging work environment.

  • Develop a strong knowledge base and stay current on job-related issues and trends.
  • Participate actively in departmental meetings, training and education, as well as the quality process.
  • Comply with Client’s code of conduct, policies, procedures and other obligations.
  • Assist with training other team members and providing back up when necessary.
  • Pick up projects on the fly; perform other duties as assigned from time to time.

Job Qualifications

Education, Licenses & Certifications:

  • MA/MS from an accredited university/college in Social Work, Psychology, Marriage & Family Therapy or Mental Health Counseling – OR –MA/MS from an accredited university/college with a major in the field of Nursing, Rehabilitation, Special Education, Health Education or a related human services field AND have completed graduate level coursework in at least 4 of the following 13 content areas: human growth and development, diagnosis and treatment of psychopathology, human sexuality, counseling theories and techniques, group theories and practice, dynamics of marriage and family systems, individual evaluation and assessment, career and lifestyle assessment; research and program evaluation, personality theories, social and cultural foundations, counseling in the community settings, and substance use disorders.
  • Active, unrestricted State of Florida clinical license in Mental Health, Clinical Social Work, Marriage & Family Therapy or Psychology (LMHC, LCSW, LMFT).
  • FL Drivers’ License within 30 days/hire, along with daily access to a reliable and insured vehicle.

Experience:

  • Three years of post-Bachelors experience working with at-risk children and families.
  • Experience providing therapy to children and families at risk.

Other Requirements:

  • Must apply for and maintain a Florida Medicaid Number through the Florida Agency for Health Care Administration.
  • Must meet Council on Accreditation (COA) standards for specific skills and knowledge that pertain to the program in which the team member is working.
  • Must designate credentials following one of these examples: [Name], LCSW (Licensed Clinical Social Worker); [Name, LMHS (Licensed Mental Health Counselor); or [Name], LMFT (Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist).
  • A team member in this position who is licensed in Florida as a Clinical Social Worker is permitted to use the following titles when describing their work: Clinical Social Worker, Psychiatric Social Worker or Psychosocial Worker.
  • A team member in this position who is licensed in Florida as a Marriage & Family Therapist is permitted to use the following titles when describing their work: Marriage & Family Therapist, Marriage Counselor, Marriage Consultant, Family Therapist, Family Counselor or Family Consultant.
  • A team member in this position who is licensed in Florida as a Mental Health Counselor is permitted to use the following titles when describing their work: Mental Health Counselor, Mental Health Therapist or Mental Health Consultant.
  • A team member in this position is permitted to use the following titles when describing their work, provided the use of such terms is within the scope of their practice based on education, training and licensure: Psychotherapist, Sex Therapist or Juvenile Sexual Offender Therapist.

Schedule Expectations

The incumbent will work a standard scheduled week, which may include weekends, holidays and evenings. The ability to work flexible hours is required to meet business needs. If working remotely, incumbent will be required to be available by telephone and email during specified hours. Travel will be on an as-needed basis to conduct business-related activities. In the event of a declared disaster or emergency, this Business Operations Continuity position will be required to carry out assigned duties to provide our client with the capability and capacity to operate its business functions.
