Responsibilities
- The Nurse Practitioner performs the following tasks in any authorized setting (clinics, hospitals, ambulatory surgery centers, nursing homes, or patient's home)
- Obtaining patient history
- Performing physical examinations
- Ordering and performing diagnostic and therapeutic procedures
- Formulating a diagnostic impression
- Developing and implementing a treatment plan
- Monitoring effectiveness of therapeutic interventions
- Offering counseling and education to meet patient needs
- Making appropriate referrals
- Prescribing and dispensing prescription medication in accordance with FL state laws and department policies
- Performing minor procedures and surgical procedures
- Demonstrates ability to assess data reflective of patient's status and appropriately interprets information relative to patient's age-specific needs
- Assist with ongoing departmental process improvement and policy development
- Other departmental or institutional committee assignments as needed
- Working in a team structure which includes a residency program
Qualifications
- Experienced APPs, preferably 3+ years in Family Medicine
- Must be a graduate of CAAHEP (Council on the Accreditations of Allied Health Education Programs) approved university program
- Must be licensed/certified or eligible to practice as PA in the State
- Must have current Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner (APRN) license or eligible to obtain license
- Certification by the ANCC or AANP in a specialty area required
- Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills and possess strong computer skills
- Must be flexible and willing to handle extended hours and on-call responsibilities (evenings, weekends, and holidays) if need arises in department
- Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant license to practice in the State of
- BLS required (American Heart Association or Red Cross)
- For Nurse Practitioners, certification by the ANCC or AANP is required and for Physician Assistants, NCCPA certification is required
Responsibilities
- Provide full scope of primary care services, including diagnosis, treatment, and coordination of care and health maintenance to patients of all ages in a Clinic setting
- Will perform physical examinations; provide diagnoses and direct counseling for patients on a treatment plan
- Participate in peer review, quality assurance, provider meetings, and other clinical meetings
- Review incoming reports and follow up promptly
- Supervise mid-level practitioners
- Prescribe medication in accordance with statute and professional practice guidelines
- Arrange referrals for patients requiring services not offered at the Health Center
- Assist in developing and updating protocols and principles of practice as requested
