Full-time NURSE PRACTITIONER (NPs) needed.
The attending consultant and the nurse practitioner will collaborate to conduct consultations across the Children's Hospital. A driven, self-reliant person with great interpersonal and organizational abilities who can communicate with patients, families, doctors, and researchers is needed for the role.
Schedule: Full Time
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Conduct a health history and perform a problem-specific examination as indicated by the patient's reason for visit.
- Order and interpret diagnostic tests.
- Identify and manage common health problems, both acute and chronic in accordance with approved guidelines.
- Prescribe an appropriate plan of care in a variety of modalities to meet wellness and illness including, but not limited to medications, nutrition, exercise and traditional nursing treatments.
- Work collaboratively with health care providers in planning for patient care and makes referrals to other disciplines as indicated.
- Evaluate and document patient's responses to the plan of care.
- Conduct telephone consultations, laboratory follow-up and triage of walk-in patients with referral to appropriate providers.
- Diagnose and prescribe appropriately as indicated by the patient's assessment findings.
- Advise and serve as a clinical resource for healthcare providers, and non-medically trained staff.
- Assist with interviewing and mentoring newly hired nurse practitioners.
- Participate in the development, review and revision of nurse practitioner agency specific practice guidelines.
- Audit peer practice to assure overall quality of patient care.
- Support and contribute to quality assurance and incorporate findings into practice.
- Maintains student confidentiality and sensitivity.
- Provide direct patient care clinical sessions.
SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS
- NYS Nurse Practitioner license and certification in Family Health or Adult Health; NYS Registered nurse license preferred.
- Current NPI number and DEA certificate.
- Ambulatory care experience
- 1-3 years of appropriate experience.
- Master's Degree in Nursing.
