Salary:

$180,000 to $220,000 per year,

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct comprehensive eye exams, including vision testing, visual acuity assessment, and ocular health evaluations.
  • Diagnose and treat various eye conditions and diseases, prescribing appropriate eyeglasses, contact lenses, and medications.
  • Provide specialized care in areas such as pediatric optometry, geriatric optometry, or specialty contact lenses, as applicable.
  • Perform and interpret advanced diagnostic tests, such as visual field-testing, retinal imaging, and corneal topography.
  • Collaborate with ophthalmologists and other healthcare professionals to co-manage patient care and refer to specialists when necessary.
  • Educate patients on proper eye care practices, including contact lens hygiene, digital eye strain prevention, and general eye health.
  • Fit and adjust eyeglasses and contact lenses to ensure optimal vision correction and patient comfort.
  • Stay updated on the latest advancements in optometry, including new treatment modalities, diagnostic technologies, and industry best practices.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed patient records, documenting examinations, diagnoses, treatments, and recommendations.
  • Provide exceptional patient-centered care, addressing patient concerns, and ensuring their understanding of diagnoses and treatment plans.
  • Uphold ethical and professional standards in accordance with industry regulations and guidelines.

Qualifications:

  • Doctor of Optometry (O.D.) degree from an accredited optometry program.
  • Valid state license to practice optometry.
  • Board certification or eligibility for board certification in optometry.
  • Strong knowledge of ocular anatomy, physiology, and eye diseases.
  • Proficiency in conducting comprehensive eye exams and interpreting diagnostic tests.
  • Excellent clinical and diagnostic skills, with attention to detail.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to establish rapport with patients and work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team.
