Job Title: Pharmacy Technician – Hospital Setting (Atlanta, Georgia)

Job Type: Full Time

Work Hours: Monday - Friday: 9 AM-5 PM

Compensation: $50,000.00 - $60,000 per year + benefits

We are looking for a detail-oriented and dependable Pharmacy Technician to join our team and help support the provision of accurate, efficient pharmaceutical services.

As a Pharmacy Technician, you will assist pharmacists in dispensing medications, managing pharmaceutical supplies, and ensuring that all medication orders are filled accurately and timely. You will work closely with the healthcare team to ensure safe medication practices and provide excellent service to patients.

Job Duties:

  • Assist pharmacists in the preparation and dispensing of medications, including oral, injectable, and topical forms.
  • Accurately interpret and fill medication orders from physicians, verifying dosage and instructions.
  • Label medication containers with appropriate information and prepare them for patient distribution.
  • Manage inventory, order medications, and track medication supplies.
  • Ensure medication storage complies with safety and regulatory guidelines.
  • Provide patient education on proper medication usage and storage under the guidance of the pharmacist.
  • Process medication orders using the pharmacy computer system.
  • Assist with prescription refills, ensuring all relevant patient information is up to date.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential patient records in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
  • Participate in medication preparation for patients receiving inpatient or outpatient treatments.
  • Communicate with healthcare providers to clarify medication orders and resolve any discrepancies.
  • Perform routine quality control checks and ensure the pharmacy area is clean and organized.
  • Follow safety protocols, including handling hazardous materials, and ensure proper disposal of medications.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; completion of an accredited Pharmacy Technician program preferred.
  • Certification as a Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) preferred.
  • Active registration with the Georgia State Board of Pharmacy.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification preferred.
  • Previous experience in a hospital pharmacy or retail pharmacy setting preferred, but not required.
  • Strong knowledge of pharmaceuticals, drug interactions, and dosage calculations.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in medication preparation and dispensing.
  • Excellent communication skills for patient and healthcare team interaction.
  • Ability to maintain patient confidentiality and comply with HIPAA regulations.
