Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA)

Location: Mount Vernon , New York

Employment Type: Full-Time / Part-Time

Schedule: Monday to Friday, 9 AM – 5 PM

Compensation: $60,000 to $75,000 + benefits

Position Overview:

We’re currently seeking a compassionate, team-oriented Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) to join our rehabilitation team. If you’re passionate about helping older adults regain strength, mobility, and independence—you’ll feel right at home here.

As a PTA, you’ll work under the direction of a licensed Physical Therapist to carry out treatment plans tailored to each resident’s goals. You’ll support recovery from surgeries, illness, injuries, and age-related conditions, helping residents improve their mobility, reduce pain, and regain function.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Implement therapeutic exercise programs, gait training, and mobility interventions
  • Monitor and document resident progress and communicate with the supervising PT
  • Encourage resident participation and maintain a positive, motivating approach
  • Ensure safety and proper use of equipment during therapy sessions
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members, including PTs, OTs, nursing, and social work
  • Maintain accurate and timely clinical records in the facility’s EMR system

Qualifications, Licenses, and Certifications:

  • Valid New York State PTA license (required)
  • Associate’s degree from an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program
  • Current CPR/BLS certification
  • Compassion for working with the elderly and those with physical and cognitive limitations
  • Strong communication skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary care team
