Full-Time Physician Assistant needed at Hope Medical Clinic in Longmont, CO.


We are looking for a hybrid Inpatient/Outpatient Radiology Physician Assistant to join our collaborative team of Interventional Radiologists and proceduralists. We are a patient-oriented clinically intensive practice that is unusual in the field of interventional radiology. We have an inpatient admitting service, daily outpatient consultations, and follow-up clinic, and an inpatient consult service.

Interventional Radiology has been described as the surgery of the new millennium. Our goal is to deliver safe, effective, and compassionate care to all of our patients.

WORK SCHEDULE

  • Monday to Friday (10-hour shifts)

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Work a 3-week rotation: 1-week outpatient, 1-week inpatient, 1-week post-procedure follow up

  • When working in-patients the APP will have anywhere from 8-17 patients/day which includes rounding, new consults, and following up on consults.

  • 50% independent clinic and 50% shared visit clinic with the physicians seeing new patients, pre-procedure visits, and follow-ups. Visits are currently 100% virtual.

  • See 8-10 patients/day in an independent clinic and 8-12 patients/day in a shared clinic.

  • Work four 10-hour shifts/week with no nights, weekends, or holidays.

  • Have the opportunity to grow professionally by attending lectures, utilizing education resources, expanding skill-sets as opportunities arise, etc.

  • Provide only those medical services which he/she is competent to perform, which are consistent with the PA’s education, training, and experience.

  • Consult with a physician regarding any task, procedure, or diagnostic problem which the PA determines exceeds his/her level of competence or shall refer such cases to a supervising physician.

  • Evaluates and treats patients with acute, chronic complaints and health maintenance concerns related to the specialty.

  • Obtains complete histories and performs pertinent physical exams with assessment of normal and abnormal findings on new and returning patients.

  • Performs or requests and evaluates diagnostic studies as indicated upon evaluation of the patient.

  • Orders and collects specimens for routine laboratory tests, screening procedures, and therapeutic procedures, including blood and blood products.

  • Orders physical therapy, occupational therapy, respiratory therapy, radiology examinations, and nursing services.

  • Performs designated procedures after demonstrated competency, according to written standardized procedures where applicable.

  • Obtains informed consent, as indicated.

  • Initiates arrangements for hospital admissions and discharges and completes appropriate paperwork.

  • As directed by the supervising physician, enrolls patients in investigational studies approved by the Investigational Review Board (IRB), and orders the necessary tests and medications.

  • Medications that are not FDA-approved or are used for a non-FDA- approved indication (off-label use) require a patient-specific order in advance from the supervising physician.

  • After appropriate training, assists the supervising physician in the operating room (OR).

  • Acts as a first or second assistant under the supervision of an approved supervising physician.

  • Performs surgical procedures in the personal presence of the supervising physician.

  • Recognizes and considers age-specific needs of patients.

  • Effectively communicates and interacts with patients, families, staff, and members of the community from diverse backgrounds.

  • Recognizes situations that require the immediate attention of a physician, and initiates life-saving procedures when necessary.

  • Facilitates the coordination of inpatient and outpatient care and services as needed.

  • Facilitates collaboration between providers and coordination of community resources.

  • Ensures compliance with legal, regulatory, and clinical policies and procedures.

  • Participates in quality improvement initiatives.

  • Provides and coordinates patient teaching and counseling.

  • The ideal Outpatient Interventional Radiology candidate will have prior outpatient experience as a Physician Assistant with experience in the coordination of care and virtual visits.

Qualifications

  • BACHELOR'S DEGREE IN NURSING FROM AN ACCREDITED UNIVERSITY.

  • Graduate of a PA program accredited by the Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant, Inc. B.

  • PA - Physician Assistant State Licensed

  • BLS - Basic Life Support

  • DEA - Drug Enforcement Administration

$140,000-$180,000 per year (based on experience) + Full Benefits
