Responsibilities:

  • Perform detailed patient evaluations, considering medical history, lifestyle, and existing conditions.
  • Diagnose foot and ankle conditions, deformities, and injuries.
  • Create tailored treatment plans based on patient assessments, focusing on conservative and surgical interventions as needed.
  • Provide recommendations for orthotics, braces, physical therapy, and other interventions to enhance patient mobility and comfort.
  • Perform surgical procedures for conditions such as bunions, hammertoes, and ingrown toenails.
  • Administer injections, corticosteroid treatments, and wound care as required.
  • Coordinate care with orthopedic surgeons, primary care physicians, and physical therapists to ensure comprehensive treatment plans.
  • Share insights on patients' conditions and progress during multidisciplinary discussions.
  • Educate patients on proper foot care, preventive measures, and the importance of regular check-ups.
  • Explain treatment options, potential risks, and expected outcomes.
  • Regularly evaluate patients' response to treatments, adjusting plans as necessary to achieve optimal outcomes.
  • Perform follow-up visits to track recovery and provide additional guidance.
  • Document patient assessments, treatment plans, procedures performed, and progress notes in electronic health records (EHR) or patient files.
  • Stay updated with the latest advancements in podiatric care, attend conferences, and workshops, and engage in continuous education.
  • Abide by professional ethical standards and comply with all relevant regulations and guidelines.

Qualifications:

  • Doctor of Podiatric Medicine (DPM) degree from an accredited podiatry school.
  • Current and valid state licensure to practice podiatry.
  • Clinical experience in diagnosing and treating foot and ankle conditions.
  • Strong surgical skills for performing podiatric procedures.
  • Excellent communication and patient education abilities.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively within a multidisciplinary healthcare team.
