Full-time and Part-time Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) Needed at Mind and Body Connect Wellness Center.

Our clinic has grown into a full-service clinic that offers obstetrics, pediatrics, general medicine, family planning, and dentistry. Furthermore, our highly experienced team provides services such as education, intervention, and management of a variety of social issues impacting our society. Rest assured that all services are given in strictest confidence. We accept Medicaid, Medicare, and the majority of private health insurance policies.

The counselor's responsibility includes providing direction and education to patients in order to improve their emotional, physical, and mental growth through therapeutic intervention and good role modeling. They will help customers in accordance with the Agency's stated requirements and as a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC). Furthermore, the counselor is expected to reach the program's weekly billable service productivity objective.

Schedule:

  • Full-time and part-time positions are both available
  • Hours are based on appointment schedules.

Responsibilities:

- Works with the primary care practitioner in order to identify, manage, and supervise mental health and psychological concerns, and is a crucial component of the primary care team.

- Conducts patient intakes, with an emphasis on diagnostic and functional evaluations, and then makes treatment objectives and plans recommendations to the primary care practitioner.

- Provides concise and targeted solutions to people in need of mental health care.

- Advises primary care providers on which patients are best suited for primary care intervention and which may require referrals to specialist mental health institutions or other relevant options.

- Initiates follow-up procedures to assess patients' well-being and determine whether treatment techniques need to be adjusted.

- Develops crisis prevention methods as needed and assist patients in maintaining constant functioning.

- Assists in identifying "at risk" patients and works on the formulation of programs to prevent their condition from deteriorating.

- Supervises and oversees the provision of behavioral health healthcare services to patients, including creating links with other treatment providers both inside the primary care context and, with the patient's agreement, outside of it.

- Keeps track of patients' progress and diagnostic information in their treatment records.

- Ensures that primary care physicians are kept up to date on patients' needs and progress, and interacts with providers to develop treatment plans.

- Utilize suitable strategies to induce behavioral changes in patients who have or are at risk of developing physical problems, leading them toward healthier lifestyle choices.

- Provides patients with self-management skills and important educational material, allowing them to actively engage in their treatment and recovery.

- Consults with clinic management and other team members about behavioral services and relevant areas for outcome and program evaluation.

- Assists patients in adhering to any medical treatment provided by their primary care practitioner, including advice on how to manage pharmaceutical side effects.

- Follows the Code of Ethics for Clinical Professionals.

- Completes other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Minimum Master’s Degree in Clinical Counseling.
  • Current LPC (Licensed Professional Counselor) License
  • Knowledge of mental health assessment, treatment planning, developmental psychopathology, systems and methods in family therapy, group therapy, child psychotherapy, DSM-IV diagnoses, and behavioral therapy.
  • Bi-lingual English-Spanish speaking proficiency is preferred, but not required.
  • Mental and physical health sufficient to meet the demands of the position.
  • Thorough knowledge of the personal/social effects of various physical and mental problems on individuals, their families, and the community.
  • Considerable knowledge of available community resources and their organization, purpose, and use.
  • Knowledge of psychodiagnostics and psychotherapeutic techniques and theories.
  • Ability to assess the individual needs of a patient and evaluate the care and services provided to meet those needs.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective, cooperative relationships with professional staff, patients, their families, and other agency and community members.
  • Ability to maintain clinical records and prepare related reports.
  • Ability to work cooperatively in an interdisciplinary team setting.
  • Ability to express ideas effectively.
  • Ability to exercise judgment and make independent decisions based on professional knowledge.

Salary:

$80,000-$100,000 per year
