Full-time Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC) Needed

You will help provide mental health counseling to both arrestees and community people by de-escalating mental health crises, developing an action plan, and determining the need for 5150/5585 applications for involuntary detention in a psychiatric facility. You could also help coordinate transportation to mental health facilities or secure a bed in a homeless shelter.

Full-time positions available.

Responsibilities:

  • Accompany law enforcement on pertinent mental health responses
  • Help train police staff in addressing mental health episodes with arrestees to de-escalate situations and reduce use of force
  • Provide case management in working with third-party entities, including the Department of Mental Health, and psychiatric facilities, while checking in on patients
  • Maintain meticulous records of confidential patient information
  • Communicate effectively with law enforcement, CSU, hospital staff, and psychiatrist(s)
  • Assist police officers in conducting psychiatric evaluations in the field to determine the need for 5150/5585 applications for involuntary detention at a psychiatric facility
  • Provide short-term crisis counseling for non-violent patients suffering from a mental health episode

Qualifications:

  • Basic Life support (BLS), or Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
  • Attention to detail, demonstrating superior work ethic and integrity, interpersonal skills, and exceptional written and verbal communication with all stakeholders
  • Professionalism with a positive attitude, and ability to remain calm in tense situations
  • Ability to prioritize and multitask
  • Previous clinical experience (Psychiatric experience preferred)
