Full-time Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW)

Are you a compassionate and experienced Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW) seeking a meaningful and challenging role in the field of correctional healthcare? Our correctional facility is seeking a dedicated LICSW to join our Jail Mental Health Team. You will make a positive impact on the lives of incarcerated individuals by providing essential mental health services within a unique and diverse environment.

As an LICSW, you will work collaboratively with our multidisciplinary team of healthcare professionals to address the mental health needs of our inmate population.

Work Schedule:

  • Monday to Friday: 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM
  • Occasional evening shifts may be required based on the operational needs of the facility.
  • Rotating weekends may be scheduled to ensure comprehensive coverage for inmate mental health services.
  • Some on-call availability may be necessary to respond to urgent mental health situations.

Salary:

$115,000 to $130,000 per year, commensurate with experience and qualifications.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct comprehensive mental health assessments for individuals in the correctional facility, considering their personal history, presenting concerns, and risk factors.
  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans in collaboration with the inmate, focusing on addressing mental health issues, promoting emotional well-being, and facilitating successful reintegration into the community.
  • Provide evidence-based therapeutic interventions, such as cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), and trauma-focused therapy, to address a range of mental health concerns.
  • Conduct individual and group therapy sessions to facilitate personal growth, emotional regulation, and effective coping strategies.
  • Collaborate with other mental health professionals, including psychiatrists, psychologists, and psychiatric nurse practitioners, to coordinate care and ensure a holistic approach to treatment.
  • Offer crisis intervention and support during mental health emergencies, utilizing de-escalation techniques and making appropriate referrals for higher levels of care if needed.
  • Provide psychoeducation to inmates and their families, empowering them to understand mental health conditions, treatment options, and available community resources.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of assessments, treatment plans, progress notes, and other necessary records in compliance with legal and ethical standards.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings, case conferences, and staff development activities to enhance knowledge and promote collaboration.
  • Stay current with relevant laws, regulations, and ethical guidelines pertaining to mental health practice within correctional settings.

Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Social Work from an accredited institution.
  • Current and valid LICSW licensure in the state.
  • Minimum of two years of post-licensure experience, preferably in a mental health or correctional setting.
  • Comprehensive understanding of mental health disorders, evidence-based treatment modalities, and trauma-informed care.
  • Proficiency in conducting mental health assessments, diagnosing mental health conditions, and formulating appropriate treatment plans.
  • Experience in delivering individual and group therapy, utilizing a variety of therapeutic approaches.
  • Strong crisis intervention skills and the ability to remain calm and composed in high-stress situations.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to establish rapport and build trust with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
  • Sound judgment and decision-making abilities, with a commitment to maintaining professional boundaries and ethics.
  • Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems and computer proficiency.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team, collaborating with colleagues from various disciplines.
