Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) – Orthopedic Outpatient

Position: Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP)

Location: Port Charlotte, Florida

Employment Type: Full-Time / Part-Time

Schedule: Monday to Friday, 9 AM – 5 PM

Compensation: $70,000 to $80,000 + benefits

Position Overview:

We are seeking a Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) to join our team in Florida. In this role, you will evaluate, diagnose, and treat residents with communication and swallowing disorders, helping them regain and improve their speech, language, and cognitive abilities. You will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to ensure optimal care and patient outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assess and diagnose speech, language, voice, cognitive communication, and swallowing disorders in residents.

  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans tailored to each resident’s needs and goals.

  • Provide therapy interventions, including speech and language exercises, swallowing techniques, and cognitive-linguistic rehabilitation.

  • Utilize assistive devices and alternative communication methods when necessary.

  • Collaborate with nurses, caregivers, and families to support residents' therapy goals.

  • Document evaluations, treatment plans, and progress notes accurately and in compliance with facility standards.

  • Educate staff and families on communication strategies and safe swallowing techniques.

Requirements:

  • Licensure: Valid Speech-Language Pathology license in Florida.

  • Certification: Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology (CCC-SLP) from ASHA preferred.

  • Education: Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited program.

  • Experience: Prior experience in assisted living, skilled nursing, or geriatrics preferred (new graduates welcome).

  • Strong knowledge of communication and swallowing therapy techniques.

  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills.

  • Proficiency in electronic health records (EHR) systems is a plus.
