Dating and Astrology: How to Pick Your Partner Based on Astrological Compatibility
While astrology is not the end all be all of compatibility and many people believe it to be nonsense, there are aspects that make personality traits, ways of life, and generalized viewpoints and ways of acting each sign has that can attract or repel. Your well known star or sun sign is important. Although there are many signs within your chart and everyone else’s that can create a perfect fit for a partner or a complete nightmare. Furthermore, this is not a way to generalize, create stereotypes, or say you must be with this type of person. Every person also has their own free will, these elements are just attributes that may influence a relationship and the way two people interact with each other.
We all know the 12 astrological signs: Aries, Taurus, Gemini, Cancer, Leo, Virgo, Libra, Scorpio, Sagittarius, Capricorn, Aquarius, and Pisces. These signs are broken down more by elements. Aries, Leo, and Sagittarius being fire. Taurus, Virgo, and Capricorn are earth signs. Gemini, Libra, Aquarius air. And lastly Cancer, Scorpio, and Pisces for water signs. Each element also has different characteristics that go more in-depth for each individual sign. Fire signs tend to be more energetic, outgoing, confident, and powerful. Earth signs are grounded, stable, hard-working, and slow-moving. Air signs are quick, conversationalists, witty, and intellectuals. While water signs are emotional, empathetic, calming, and open to change and flow. This also means that elements can clash potentially. It is not always like this for instance a fire sign Leo can be with a water sign Scorpio because Scorpios are more intense than its other water sign companions. Although, it is a general concept and understanding that fire+fire= more fire. Whether that is in a positive or negative way there will be a connection usually. Fire and air is usually supportive and compatible relationship. Fire and earth can be destructive at times. Water and earth can also be positive and full of growth. While water may put fire out. I try to imagine it as water watering the earth, steam from water and fire, air fanning flames, fire burning the earth. It is not always going to go that way because each person and relationship is different. Although, it is a good idea to see if basic personalities may clash.
Another bit of information, if you are interested in learning more about your personal signs, is learning about your birth chart. This shows you your Sun, Moon, Rising, Venus, Mars, and Mercury signs which explain your personality, and how others perceive you, Emotions, love, action-taking, and communication are from those signs. You can also find yours and your partner's remaining planetary signs to see how you engage with each other. This is an important detail because your Venus sign conveys how you accept love, while your Mars sign is how you give love. The Virgo sign is at home on Venus while the Scorpio sign is at home with Mars. If you have those placements or your partner, there may be more positive moves in love and compatibility because these placements are strong. Furthermore, understanding your personal Venus and Mars signs can help you understand how you and your partner interact in the relationship.
The best relationships astrologically seem to be when sister signs come together. Sister signs are opposite signs. Which is basically showing us how opposites attract! Taurus and Scorpio, Aries and Libra, Gemini and Sagittarius, Cancer and Capricorn, Leo and Aquarius, and lastly Virgo and Pisces are the “best” couples when it comes to compatibility because these opposites have what the other does not and complement each other beautifully. While they may not be opposites elementally, they are opposites on the calendar and personality-wise. Some astrological matches that I have seen that are more difficult to manage are Taurus and Aries. Taurus is calm and slow-moving, only attacking when provoked enough. Aries are fiery and do not like that, they want the energy in the relationship. Even if negative there is more of an energy disconnect here with the fire and earth. Another is Leo and Pisces, many water and fire duos I have seen can be a game of cat and mouse. One going after the other at different times. Conversely, I have also seen positive portrayals of couples that were negative or not as great together previously. Again, it is ultimately up to the character of the person and how they take these astrological attributes to contribute in a relationship with another.
