The 5 Non-Negotiables of A Relationship
By Angelica Brown

When it comes to being in a relationship, it is important to make sure that you and your partner are on the same page and have the same level of respect for each other. By following  these non-negotiables to appreciate and love your partner you will create a safe and loving environment for the both of you.

  1. Show love and loyalty so that you and your partner feel safe and comfortable within the relationship and connection. This is necessary because you two are best friends and a support system for each other. If that love and comfort in that loyalty is impacted that will create a strain and build resistance and resentment within the connection. Continuing to make your partner feel loved and showing it builds comfort and stability.
  2. Communicate effectively when you need something so that there is no confusion between you and your partner. Your partner cannot read your mind. Just as you cannot read theirs. It is important that you feel comfortable enough to express yourself if your partner does something you do not like, you need them, or even just everyday communication. Communication and understanding is key, if you cannot understand your partner how can you work with them?
  3. Convey honesty and trust so that there is deep acceptance and comfort for the relationship. If both partners feel stable within the connection, there is room for the relationship to flourish and become even better.
  4. Express respect and appreciation so that there is no lack of being yourself within the relationship. It is important for both people within the relationship to feel understood and like they can be themselves. If someone or both people feel as if they are walking on eggshells or are not confident with themselves around the other, there will be no closeness and intimacy.
  5. Listen to your partner’s needs so that you can also be there for them when they need it. This is important because you and your partner need to be there for each other, be a support system, and be reliable to build trust. If you can trust each other to be there or be supportive when you need it, there will be stability within the connection.

By following and upholding these ways of caring for your partner, there is a high chance that you will be happier and more fulfilled within your connection and relationship. If you and your partner are comfortable and happy with each other, you will continue to flourish and grow together as a team.
